Optimal root aeration and nutrient supply. Suitable for all houseplants and as a drainage layer.

Size
The purely mineral plant substrate LECHUZA-PON is the ideal plant substrate for your houseplants. With its mineral components, it offers excellent drainage, ensuring optimal root aeration. This means waterlogging in the planter doesn’t stand a chance! At the same time, LECHUZA-PON acts as a water reservoir, supplying plants evenly and reliably with the right amount of moisture. Its special composition maintains a stable pH level and acts as a reservoir for water and nutrients, which are released to the plants as needed and on an individual basis. To keep your houseplants lush and green and to stimulate growth, LECHUZA-PON is enriched with a slow-release fertilizer. This reliably supplies your plants with all the necessary nutrients for about 6 months.

LECHUZA-PON consists of Zeolite, Pumice, and Lava and remains structurally stable thanks to its special composition. Unlike soil, PON cannot compact or clump. Because of its purely mineral base, the substrate offers no breeding ground for fungi or pests such as gnats. This also makes it ideal for people with allergies. Out of respect for nature, the substrate is peat-free, making it the best choice for your houseplants.

LECHUZA-PON can be used as a drainage layer and for complete planting of all indoor and outdoor plants. LECHUZA-PON is particularly well-suited to the needs of houseplants. PON plant substrates can be used in LECHUZA planters with an irrigation system or in conventional flower pots.

Recommended Accessories

After about half a year, the fertilizer’s effect in the substrate begins to wear off, and it’s time to fertilize the plants again. With PERFECT LEAF slow-release and liquid fertilizers, houseplants are once again supplied with sufficient nutrients, allowing them to flourish with fresh, vibrant greenery.

To keep track of your plant’s water needs even in conventional flower pots, you can use the PON watering indicator. It reliably indicates when your plant needs to be watered in the mineral substrate.

Planting in LECHUZA planters

Step 1:

Place the irrigation layer—included with LECHUZA planters—on the divider in the planter. This is important to ensure that water is transported from the reservoir to the plant and to prevent waterlogging. Then fill the planter with a thin layer of your chosen substrate, such as LECHUZA-PON. Use just enough so that your plant sits at the correct height in the planter.

Step 2:

Place the plant in your planter as usual. You don’t need to completely remove the soil from the roots.

Step 3:

Now you can fill the planter completely with the growing medium of your choice, for example, using the PON funnel.

Step 4:

For the first 12 weeks, water your plant as usual from above, directly onto the substrate. Water only as much as the plant can absorb. Make sure there is as little water as possible in the reservoir.

After this initial watering phase, you can water your plant through the water shaft. For planters without the LECHUZA irrigation system, continue to water the plant from above. You can find more information here.
