MONOPON is a purely mineral plant substrate for all plants that require a particularly well-aerated and consistently stable root environment. Made from 100% natural Pumice, MONOPON creates optimal drainage conditions, allowing excess water to drain away reliably. This helps prevent waterlogging, one of the most common causes of root rot and yellow leaves. MONOPON is a modern alternative to clay granulate and expanded clay, offering the same versatile applications while generating lower CO₂ emissions. It can be used as a complete growing medium, as a replacement for potting soil, as a drainage layer, or as an additive to other substrates.

Thanks to its mineral composition, MONOPON stores water and releases it to plants as needed. The substrate remains structurally stable over time, does not compact, and improves soil aeration. This provides plants with secure support in the planter, even for larger specimens or deep-rooted species. Since MONOPON is not pre-fertilized, the nutrient supply can be tailored individually to each plant’s needs or combined with pre-fertilized substrates.

The purely mineral, 100% peat-free composition provides no breeding ground for gnats, making MONOPON ideal for clean and hygienic plant cultivation both indoors and outdoors.

MONOPON is highly versatile and can be used as a drainage layer in conventional pots, as a soil conditioner to improve soil structure, or as a complete plant substrate for species that prefer a particularly airy root environment.

Step 1:

Add the LECHUZA-PON plant substrate (included with the pots) as a drainage layer on the separating base in the pot. This is important so the water can be transported from the reservoir to the plant.
Then pour a thin layer of the desired substrate into the container. Just enough to give your plant the right height in the container.

Step 2:

Place the plant in your planter. The roots do not need to be completely removed from the soil.

Step 3:

Fill the container completely with the substrate of your choice, e.g. using the PON shovel.

Step 4:

For the first 12 weeks, water your plant as usual from above, directly onto the substrate. Only water as much as the plant can absorb. Make sure that there is as little water as possible in the reservoir.
After this watering phase, you can water your plant via the water shaft. For pots without a LECHUZA watering system, the plant continues to be watered from above. You can find more information here: https://www.lechuza.world/how-to-plant-lechuza/sp-planting.html
