BLACKSTONEPON is a purely mineral plant substrate for anyone who wants to provide their houseplants with optimal growing conditions and an exceptionally elegant appearance. The blend of Pumice, Black Lava, Zeolite, Biochar, and a slow-release fertilizer creates a structurally stable, airy root environment while giving the substrate a premium dark finish that stands out from traditional potting soil. Thanks to its mineral composition, BLACKSTONEPON reliably stores water and releases it as needed, while excess moisture drains away quickly. Its high drainage capacity and excellent root aeration promote healthy, vigorous root growth and help prevent root rot. The Biochar it contains also improves soil fertility and binds nutrients over the long term.

BLACKSTONEPON is pre-fertilized and supplies plants with all essential nutrients for about 6 months, supporting healthy, vigorous growth. The purely mineral, 100% peat-free composition provides no breeding ground for gnats. In addition, BLACKSTONEPON remains structurally stable over time without clumping or compacting.

Thanks to its elegant dark appearance, BLACKSTONEPON can be used both as a complete plant substrate and as a premium decorative top layer. It is suitable for all types of houseplants and can be used in both conventional flower pots and LECHUZA planters with an irrigation system.

Recommended Accessories

After about half a year, the fertilizer’s effect in the substrate begins to wear off, and it’s time to fertilize the plants again. With PERFECT LEAF slow-release and liquid fertilizers, houseplants are once again supplied with sufficient nutrients, allowing them to flourish with fresh, vibrant greenery.

To keep track of your plant’s water needs even in conventional flower pots, you can use the PON watering indicator. It reliably indicates when your plant needs to be watered in the mineral-based substrate.

Step 1:

Add the LECHUZA-PON plant substrate (included with the pots) as a drainage layer on the separating base in the pot. This is important so the water can be transported from the reservoir to the plant.
Then pour a thin layer of the desired substrate into the container. Just enough to give your plant the right height in the container.

Step 2:

Place the plant in your planter. The roots do not need to be completely removed from the soil.

Step 3:

Fill the container completely with the substrate of your choice, e.g. using the PON shovel.

Step 4:

For the first 12 weeks, water your plant as usual from above, directly onto the substrate. Only water as much as the plant can absorb. Make sure that there is as little water as possible in the reservoir.
After this watering phase, you can water your plant via the water shaft. For pots without a LECHUZA watering system, the plant continues to be watered from above. You can find more information here: https://www.lechuza.world/how-to-plant-lechuza/sp-planting.html
